Privacy Policy

What we collect

During onboarding, you provide your first name, contact email, and select your city or town. These are stored on this device. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or an existing email-and-password account, we also keep your profile and verified sign-in email with your account. An optional phone can be added to your profile. Your profile can be edited on the You tab. An optional photo remains on your device.

You can begin and keep practicing without an account. Guest Words and what you write stay on this device. If you sign in, your Words, learning progress, paraphrases, explanations, situations, commitments, and Paths are saved with your account through Supabase so your practice can follow you to another device. Reminder preferences and appearance stay on this device.

The Bible passages you choose and the reflections you write may reveal your religious beliefs. We use them to support your practice, account sync, and the optional sharing you choose in Together.

We do not use GPS. City searches use Google Places through our server when configured, with countries.dev / GeoNames as a fallback. The place provider receives your search text, not your name or email. Selecting a result saves its standardized city, region, country, and provider place ID with your profile.

Together: friends, activity, and commitments

Together is optional. Mutual friends can see activity only when you enable sharing. Path names follow your global and per-Path choices. Your private writing, recordings, and recall answers are never included in a social feed. Enabling activity sharing includes recent activity saved since you first set up Together; turning it off hides that activity on the next refresh.

If you choose contact discovery, selected contact emails and international phone numbers are sent to our Supabase backend to find opted-in accounts using verified account identifiers. We do not store the uploaded address book. Your account email and phone number are not returned in search results. You can disable discoverability and manage contact access in system settings.

Anonymous community activity is separately optional. It contains an activity type and date, with no account ID, name, or Path. You may also choose to include the city saved in your profile. A city may make you recognizable to someone who knows you; it is not GPS location.

Accepting a shared commitment lets its members see your weekly practice count, selected check-in, and recall progress for that shared Path. Leaving or ending the commitment stops access to those summaries. Encouragements, friendship requests, blocks, and reports are stored to operate these features. You can block or report unwanted contact. Account deletion also removes your social settings, relationships, activity, and memberships. Previously seen or copied information cannot be recalled.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your name, your season, or your Words.
• We do not run advertising.
• We do not track you across other companies’ apps.
• We do not send Scripture you recite to a marketing cloud.

Who else might see something

• Apple, if you use Sign in with Apple, or if you allow notifications.
• Google, if you use Continue with Google.
• Supabase stores your sign-in, profile details, and, when signed in, your Words, written reflections, learning progress, and Paths so you can access them on another device.
• Google Places provides city suggestions through our server when configured. It receives search text and a temporary search-session identifier.
• countries.dev / GeoNames provides place suggestions when you search for a city or town. It receives that search text, not your name or account details.
• RevenueCat handles premium access. Your onboarding name and contact email are attached to its customer record after you accept the disclosures. Signing in also links your account ID, verified email, and optional phone.
• This phone: speech recognition and the microphone, only when you recite, so the app can show where a word differs. You may type instead.

Narration is the voice of Lawrence E. Adjah, bundled with the app or cached on the device. The app does not call a voice API while you listen.

Where it lives

Your sign-in, profile, and signed-in Word practice live with Supabase; premium status lives with RevenueCat. Guest practice, reminder preferences, and appearance stay on your device.

Your choices

• You may continue without an account.
• You may decline the microphone, speech recognition, notifications, and photos; the Word still works, with typing.
• You may sign out or delete your account from You. Signing out clears that account's practice from this device; signing back in restores its synced practice. Deleting removes the hosted profile, sign-in, and synced Word practice, clears the name, email, and phone stored with premium access, and clears the practice from this device.
• You may delete the app; its local Word practice and preferences leave the device with it.
• If you cannot access the app, request account deletion through support.

Children

makairos is made for adults. It is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change. The in-app Disclosures will stay the plainer copy.
